Speech Time Line
- Week of May 26 - Decide theme
- Week of June 2 - Write an outline
- Week of June 9 - Complete the first Draft, speech presentation signup.
- Week of June 16 - Complete the second draft
- Week of June 23 - Complete final draft and record speech
- June 30-July 25 - Speech presentations
Requirements
- Speech must be about 300 words, typed, doubled spaced on A4 paper
- All students must give the teacher a Word file of their speech (By email or on disk. Talk to your teachers about this)
- Name, student number, class, and speech title must be on the top of the paper
- Each student must make a recorded cassette of their speech
Speech Topic
Choose one of the following topics:
- The person I admire the most
- The thing I'm most passionate about
- Helping others
Speeches should contain:
Introduction
- An attention getter
- What you will talk about
- How you feel about your topic
Discussion
You must include three of the following:
- Interview
- Song
- Quote
- Demonstration
- Personal experience
- A story
- Newspaper article reference
- Book reference
- TV program reference
- Internet reference
- Joke
Conclusion
Conclusions should summarize what you said and be special. The audience should:
- Feel some emotion (joy, sadness, excitement, anger, concern, etc.)
- Learn something new
Advice
- Your speech should be interesting to both you and your audience. Write about something you feel strongly about, something you're passionate about, or something you think is funny or interesting. Have fun. Be a little crazy.
- Use Spell Check, Grammar Check, and Word Count
- After grading, the best two speeches from each class will be chosen for the Zion English Speech Contest at Seinan's Culture Festival on October 18.
